Alcoa to shed 194 jobs, bringing end to aluminium foil manufacturing in Aus: cites high $A, low-cost China

Nickel prices average over US$46 600 a tonne in the first six months of 2007, a 90 per cent increase on the average price in 2006 (US$24 250)

Australian Commodities, Vol. 14 No. 3, September Quarter reported in May, prices reached a record of $54 200 a tonne, which reflected global supply constraints and increased demand, particularly from China. Aus Govt energy fear: China locking-up resources by long-term contracts, bypassing market
